My first retreat experience (as a guest)
This weekend was a very special experience I’ll always cherish. This was my very first retreat as a guest and not a photographer or a marketer.
I hadn’t expected this to be so deep and moving. It’s so much more than going away to a quiet place and eating vegetarian food. It’s about opening up to others and yourself. Crying and hugging, writing in your journal, crying more and then laughing hysterically. No alcohol involved, only pure emotions coming deep from the heart.
Sunsets, sunrises, silent hikes, star gazing meditations, a cacao ceremony, dancing alone, looking at the stunning panorama views, unleashing childhood memories, breathing palo santo, eating madroño from the trees. Seeing other women for who they are with no masks and pretence.
It’s funny because I had prepared my camera and even though I had told myself that I wouldn’t take photos too much, I was still hoping to capture a few moments spontaneously until I realised that I’d forgotten my SD card. So most of my memories are imprinted in my mind and the occasional moments when I couldn’t resist using my phone (even though we weren’t supposed to).
I got home rejuvenated and ready for new beginnings and feeling that I’ve acquired some friendships which will only get deeper over time.
I’m overflowing with gratitude for @lidia.therese.meier for inviting me to her incredible place @casali_portugal and @ingaolej for leading these empowering workshops which allowed me to peel off and accept layers of myself which were sleeping.
